I am sorry it took me this long to realize this but due to moving the web server to the linode VPS putting angryzombie.net in as the minecraft server to connect to no longer works. Players need to connect to minecraft.angryzombie.net for servers hosted on Sarah’s home server. Updated contact information is in place for all the various servers.
For a while I have been running a Teamspeak server for Geek.Kon staff to use for meetings. It’s never actually been used for this purpose but whatever. Either way I have decided to open it up for people to talk on. So yeah we can talk either on the Teamspeak or on IRC now. I will try to keep my eye on it but I assume for now that the IRC will continue to be more popular.
So unfortunately I have figured out what is wrong with the FTB Server and why it gets rather laggy from time to time. I say unfortunately because it is a memory leak and the only way to resolve the issue is to purge the world and rebuild the instance from scratch. People have spent a lot of time building stuff on this instance, myself included and I know these people will be quite disappointed if I was forced to purge the world.
One thing I have learned is that these issues are something you risk when you play with mods and sometimes it sucks but you have to swallow the bitter pill to have the fun of playing with mods.
I will be talking to my players about the issue to decide if we shall purge the world or not.
I’ve decided it could be a little fun to play around with an instance of the FTB RPG Immersion Pack. Apparently it has a lot of interesting weapons and mobs to fight. You can connect to it via angryzombie.net:25568. I will be adding a page for it as soon as I get around to it.
So I have finally got myself a job and its rather well paying at that so there will be a new hardware server to run all of our stuff on the way. Really don’t have an eta at the moment as I am buying parts one at a time but we should be able to run the FTB, Voltz, and Vanilla as well as quite a few other instances on it. One thing I am looking forward to playing with once it is more fully devolved is Galacticraft. One thing you can be sure of is that there will be Tekkit Classic and Tekkit Lite instances as well as probably a regular Voltz instance where I am not screwing around with random mods.
So I have been playing with installing aditional mods to the Voltz Server as a precursor to possibly creating my own modpack for our network’s use. I have been unofficially calling it Voltz+, as in Voltz plus some other stuff. I’m not going to be including any other electricity mods because it’s nice to have everything using Universal Electricity, but I have added Forestry because thats a bit fun. I know packaging Forestry into a modpack may be a challenge. For now anyone who wants to play on the server can check out the modslist on the server page.
So I have decided to see if we could host Voltz, FTB, and Vanilla all on the same server. It seems to be working fine probably because of our low user count. Here is the info for connecting to the various games.
